Even though it is late in the fall – October 27th – I feel cocky enough to say I am now ready for another Canadian winter!
Today, I visited the local Hutterite Colony and bought six bales of straw to keep my chickens warm. These bales are stacked in the chicken barn. Lots of grain, supplement and oyster shell grit are stashed there also. The winter water thing is figured out – more on that later.
My winter tires are on the four wheel drive truck, which is “ready for minus fifty” according to the dealer. Nothing can be ready for minus fifty – in my opinion!
The pump house in the shop has its space heater and thermometer all in place.
I have cleaned up my studio and done an inventory of the paints and brushes, canvas and gesso.
Now, a glass of red wine and let’s see what mother nature brings.
